After the arrival of Kayas new brother Neri, five year old Kaya learns that she must take on the role of a Big Sister. In some ways this seems to be an exciting role for Kaya. But in other ways the role of a Big Sister seems to be a little frightening. It is especially frightening when Kaya discovers that her first task as the eldest is to also set the example by sleeping in her own room. Not only has Kaya never slept alone before, but Kaya believes that there is something else in her new room besides herself and her teddy bear. Kaya thinks that she sees a monster! When Kaya talks to her parents about this monster, they only remind Kaya of her responsibilities as a big sister. Is there really something else in Kayas room or is it just her imagination? If not, will Kaya set an example for her little brother by conquering her fears and sleeping in her own room? Find out these answers when you read, Characters Like Me- Can I Sleep In Your Bed?
